Why You Should Have Your Propane Tank Refilled Vs. Exchanging It
Right now, you might normally take your propane tank in to exchange it when you need more propane for things like grilling or running a small heater. This is not your only option for acquiring more propane, however. Another option is to consider taking your propane tank to be refilled. This can be an ideal option for the reasons below and more.
Spend Less on Propane
If you simply use a propane exchange to get more propane, then you might spend more on your propane than you have to. Of course, you should take a minute to check pricing beforehand just to be sure, but refilling a propane tank is often a little bit cheaper than exchanging it. If you go through a lot of propane, such as if you spend a lot of time grilling in the summer, then you might find that this minor cost difference actually adds up.
Keep Your Preferred Propane Tank
Another good thing about propane refills is the fact that you can keep your preferred propane tank. When you exchange your propane tank, there is the possibility that you will be given another propane tank that is older, rustier or otherwise in worse condition than the propane tank that you are turning in. Additionally, there is the possibility that you have an oddly sized or shaped propane tank that you would prefer to keep or that the propane exchange company will not accept. Of course, you will typically be required to bring in an approved propane tank that is designed for use with propane when you are having your tank refilled, but you will not have to worry about giving up your tank.
Avoid Waiting Until Your Propane Tank is Empty
If you choose to exchange your propane tank for a filled tank, you will probably want to do so when you know that your tank is completely empty. However, you might not actually like completely running out of propane. If you simply have your propane tank refilled instead of exchanging it, then you don't have to worry about waiting until your tank is empty. You also don't have to worry about paying for more propane than what you receive. Instead, you can take your tank in when it's still half-full or when it has pretty much any amount of propane in it, and you can simply pay for the propane that you need.
Exchanging your propane tank is not your only option. Instead, consider opting for propane refills for the reasons listed above.
