Here Are Signs You Might Have Foundation Problems

Home repairs are usually daunting tasks you don't want to have to deal with. However, they are important for the continuing integrity of your home. One area of concern for homeowners is the foundation. The hope is that you won't ever have to deal with foundation problems. However, there is a good chance you will face foundation problems at some point in your life.

Here are some signs that you might have foundation issues you may need to have repaired.

The doors have gaps along the tops

When the foundation is having issues, it will often cause the doors to not close properly. You may notice that the doors are harder to open and close because they seem to stick. Also, if you look along the top of the door, there might be a good-sized gap that runs along the top part of the door.

The windows are harder to operate

Just as how the messed up foundation can affect your doors, they can also affect the windows. You may start noticing that you are struggling a bit to open your windows, and they almost seem as if they are stuck. This can indicate foundation issues, and you might want to look for more signs. You should call someone out as soon as you feel you may really have problems.

You are seeing nails that are coming out of the wall

You can occasionally run into a random nail coming from your wall that you never noticed before. While this is a little weird, it is easy to shrug off. However, if you are noticing it is happening more frequently, then it can mean the foundation needs repairs. The foundation can be shifting, causing the drywall to also shift and making the nails pop out.

There are cracks in the walls or floors

Foundation problems will often be found because homeowners see cracks in the walls and/or floors. The cracks from foundation problems can happen in other areas but are generally found on the walls near the window frames or door frames.

The floors are uneven

If you are asking through your house and feel like you suddenly lost your footing, it may be that your floor has shifted and is no longer level. If this happens, then you should have someone come out to take a look at the foundation and see if it is in need of repairs.
